PARRAMATTA SOCIAL ENTERPRISE HUB

The Parramatta Social Enterprise Hub (PSEH), the second social enterprise hub in Australia, was established in 2007 and is a collaborative partnership between Parramatta City Council (PCC), Social Ventures Australia (SVA) and Allco Foundation.

The Parramatta Social Enterprise Hub is working with social entrepreneurs and community organisations to develop their capability as viable social enterprises through ;

 i) the Accelerator Program - an annual support program offering business advice, mentoring, training, organisational tools to build capability and sustainability ; and

ii) Hub Services - Hub Meeting Place read more, Hub Connect, Hub Commerce Panel and Hub Market.

A social enterprise is a non-profit business whose primary purpose is to create employment for marginalised people, including refugees, indigenous people, people with disabilities or mental illness and other long-term unemployed people.

 In 2008, the Hub will intensively support 3 enterprises through the Accelerator program these are:

Information and Cultural Exchange : digital media hub + incubator of digital arts/media enterprises led by diverse & disadvantaged communities

Dare Operations : trade introduction course for marginalised, disadvantaged youth

Spectrum Employment : landscape services employing marginalised people

We will be posting information regarding the Accelerator Program 2009 shortly.

The next Hub Meeting Place will be held on Wednesday 17 September with guest speaker Mike Thomas, Economic Development Manager, Parramatta City Council on Market Opportunities for Social Enterprises. Read more.
